Nationally Certified Teacher of The Alexander Technique
Karen G. Krueger, LLC
I first took lessons in the Alexander Technique to help me deal with severe, chronic headaches and neck pain that were making it impossible for me to continue my career as a partner at a major New York law firm. The benefits far exceeded my original hopes, and I decided to become a teacher of the Alexander Technique.
I completed a 1600-hour training program at the American Center for the Alexander Technique (ACAT), receiving my teacher certification in December 2010. I engage in post-graduate study to continue developing my skills, in accordance with the continuing education requirements of the American Society for the Alexander Technique (AmSAT). And I enjoy using the principles of the Alexander Technique while I engage in my favorite activities, including choral singing, playing the piano, crafts, hiking and swimming.
I believe that it is crucial to learning the Alexander Technique, or any other skill, that both the student and the teacher cultivate an attitude of curiosity, resist the impulse to be judgmental, and above all enjoy the process. I love teaching one-on-one, because it allows me to work with each student as an individual, addressing his or her specific goals and engaging his or her unique learning style.
I have written A Lawyer's Guide to the Alexander Technique: Using Your Mind-Body Connection to Handle Stress, Alleviate Pain, and Improve Performance to introduce this wonderful technique to lawyers and other busy professionals who are looking for ways to handle the physical and mental challenges of today's workplace.
